Hofmann’s are delighted to offer this stunning and rare Type 49 Lotus Elise. First registered in July 2000 on a “W Plate” this collector’s edition has covered a mere 6,326 miles from new. Originally supplied by SGT Lotus, this car has been lovingly cared for by 4 previous keepers, with the most recent having owned it since 2002 where it was kept it in dry storage with very occasional dry use. It has a comprehensive history with the last cambelt service carried out by ourselves in July 2019. During this service we also fitted a new alarm system, replaced brake fluid, coolant change and gear cable bushes meaning this Type 49 needs for nothing.
61 Type 49’s were supplied with the standard engine and this example is car 60.
Very few racing cars are as famous or as celebrated as the Lotus Type 49 F1 car. Its racing pedigree was instantly proven, winning its debut Grand Prix in the hands of the Lotus legend, Jim Clark. The Elise Type 49 is part of the Elise Heritage range, not only does it share the distinctive Calypso Red over Monaco White separated by the gold leaf livery of the F1 car, it also shares many other strengths that made the F1 car so successful; Lightweight aluminium chassis, GRP body, Lotus world beating handling and of course the principles of performance through lightweight.
If it’s not branded a future classic yet, it will be soon!
