Elise: 08 – Current

Unlike modern turbo engines, supercharged engines such as the 2ZR found in the Lotus Elise, still respond well to what we would call “classic” exhaust manifold tuning, such as optimised runner design and nicely detailed collectors, to give their best.  Unfortunately, most OEM designs fall short of the ideal because of the constraints placed upon their engineers, most noticeably production cost.
Our exhaust manifold design has been designed specifically to address any performance-related issues and in combination with our cold air induction kit it provides a noticeable improvement in engine breathing.  To take advantage of that, our engineers also reflash the ECU with a custom tune to ensure that optimal driveability, performance and reliability are delivered.
Key features of the Level 1 kit include:
•    Exhaust manifold designed with optimal runner lengths and diameters to maximise the inherent potential of the 2ZR engine.
•    Refined collector design for improved exhaust gas flow, which mates to standard downpipe and catalyst.
•    Exhaust manifold manufactured from T409 stainless steel, with CNC mandrel bends and robotic welds for consistent high quality and perfect fit every time.
•    Ceramic coating of exhaust manifold to reduce engine bay temperature and improve looks.
•    Cold air induction kit featuring CNC machined and welded MAF sensor mount, the necessary silicone joining pieces and clamps, a lightweight aluminium pipe and HKS, high-performance filter.
•    Induction kit promotes laminar flow upstream of the supercharger, improving MAF sensor accuracy and reducing airflow restriction.
•    Slight reduction in weight over standard parts that are replaced.
•    Power and torque improved throughout the rev range with a peak of 245.5bhp (vs. 220 as standard).

Elise: 08 – Current

One of the beauties of the Elise platform is that it is fun to drive at any speed.  However, few would argue that the Elise chassis is easily capable of handling much more power than the 220 horsepower of the standard 2ZR engine.  And besides, most of us here at SSC have never met a kilowatt we didn’t like!  As such our 2ZR, Level 2 Power Pack builds upon the foundation of the ceramic coated exhaust manifold and cold air induction kit from the Level 1 Power Pack and adds a smaller supercharger pulley, larger fuel injectors and a revised ECU calibration to increase power levels to 270 bhp.
Key features of the full Level 2 Power Pack include:
•    A smaller supercharger pulley CNC machined from billet aluminium and hard anodised for maximum durability.
•    Matched 550cc injectors with new mounting hardware.
•    Boost pressure increase to 12 PSI (from 10 PSI as standard).
•    Exhaust manifold designed with optimal runner lengths and diameters to maximise the inherent potential of the 2ZR engine.
•    Refined collector design for improved exhaust gas flow, which mates to standard downpipe and catalyst.
•    Exhaust manifold manufactured from T409 stainless steel, with CNC mandrel bends and robotic welds for consistent high quality and perfect fit every time.

SSC TVS1900 SUPERCHARGER UPGRADE

AVAILABLE ON LOTUS EVORA AND LOTUS EXIGE

The factory fitted TVS 1320 supercharger is on the limit of it’s operating efficiency window on the V6 Exige. On a 25.7 deg ambient air temperature day we logged the intake air temperatures and pressures of a stock V6 and found the intake air temperatures regularly hit over 90 degrees Celsius and peaked at 97deg within 2 laps. Without any provision for a cooling system this means the engine management system is reducing engine power through reductions in ignition timing and addition of extra fuel just to keep everything safe. Any further reduction in pulley size would generate some extra boost pressure but even more heat again meaning the performance gain will be very short lived and potentially harmful to the engine.

Hofmanns are sole UK distributor for these kits which are developed by Australian company SimplySportscars in conjunction with Harrop Engineering, who manufacture the Lotus OEM TVS1320 supercharger. This kit is a direct bolt on replacement using the TVS1900 charger. This charger has a significantly higher capacity, allowing us to use a bigger pulley to produce higher pressures and achieve lower intake air temperatures than the OEM set up.

Hofmann’s is proud to offer the innovative TVS1900 Supercharger Kit to suit the Toyota 2GR-FE 3.5L V6 engine found in the Lotus Exige S. This inverted positive displacement supercharger kit is engineered and manufactured by Harrop to OEM standards using Eaton R1900 TVS Technology. Featuring superior packaging and performance efficiency, this kit is available as both a Tuner Kit or Complete Kit with a supplied calibration, offering the Lotus Exige chassis the power and torque enhancement to maximise it’s very high-performance potential.

Installation is of OE appearance and fitment, leveraged from designing and supplying OE supercharger programs.

Mocal Laminova Oil Cooler

Laminova water cooled oil coolers offer a compact alternative to conventional air cooled versions. Constructed from an aluminium outer body with a special cooling core which is designed to keep pressure drop to a minimum.
As the Laminova coolers rely on the coolant system rather than air to operate, they can be mounted anywhere which is useful for vehicles with cramped engine bays.

The Laminova coolers are easily cleaned and their robust construction protects from leakage in a crash. They can also help to prolong engine life as they allow the engine oil to warm up faster, reducing wear.

Additional Information

Although we keep to the prices above as strictly as possible we do occasionally run into problems when a car is particularly corroded or in poor condition and needs extra time spent on remedial work. If this is the case we will always report the problem to the customer immediately so they can choose how they would like us to progress with the repairs.

Where bolts and washers are removed to complete the set up procedure we always replace with new. For example camber optimisation requires the removal of the upright bolts which would be replaced with new 10.9 grade cap heads bolts and the threads in the upright cleaned where necessary. Where appropriate copper slip, anti corrosion compound, or locktite are used in the rebuild.
