ABOUT THIS CAR
The very rare and iconic Lotus Esprit Sport 350 (No11 of 48) offered for auction at www.selectinggear.com is a 1999 car registered on a “T plate” which has covered a mere 45000 miles from new. This example has a folder of history which needs to be seen to be believed, including every MOT, service invoices, tyre receipts, owners club register, original certificate of conformity from Lotus and installation confirmation certificate for the Cobra Alarm. In the last year this car has had the following work done costing over £11,000. New fuel lines, brake lines, oil cooler and turbo lines, clutch lines, new slave cylinder, new gearbox seal, new track rod ends, B Service and refurbished Turbos
You probably know that Lotus is doing a rather good job of producing track-focused sports cars at the moment. Models like the Exige 410 and 430 are fantastic making this a very exciting time for the brand and us but it’s not a new strategy. Take a step back to the nineties and this was one of the finest examples of what happens when they make a V8 track special: The Esprit 350 Sport. This was the car that took the Esprit into supercar territory in the late 90’s, following the same path as the earlier 300 Sport but with twice the cylinders, it was 80kg lighter than the regular V8 through measures like magnesium wheels, rumoured to be the lightest wheels money could buy and the stunning carbon wing which, combined with 350bhp and 295lb ft, made it capable of reaching 60mph in 4.3 seconds. With only 50 ever made this really is the ultimate incarnation of the Esprit.
Magnesium OZ Wheels, AP Racing Brakes, Carbon Rear Spoiler, Sport 350 Styling, Black Alcantara Trim.
