We are a family run business, founded in 1949 by Fred Hofmann right here in Henley on Thames and serving customers throughout Oxfordshire and Berkshire. Our workshop is walking distance to the train station or town centre, and we have easy road links to both the M4 and M40 motorways.
Our team has considerable experience with BMW cars. In the workshop our Master Technician Mark Norton has 20 year’s experience including diagnostics and systems qualifications for both passenger vehicles and vans. If you want the best for your BMW, you are in safe hands!
To save your pocket our rates are less than the main dealer and we offer fixed menu pricing for the current range of BMW cars. If you have a prized classic BMW model our experienced technicians have the knowledge with general maintenance through to complete rebuilds. We use BMW equipment and diagnostics, along with genuine BMW parts that are covered by a 2-year warranty. BMW specific oils are fitted, and we are able to officially record everything in your digital service book all without effecting your manufactures warranty.
We offer all the usual services you might expect from a well-equipped garage from tyres, brakes & clutch, crash repairs and diagnostics through to engine and chassis rebuilds for classic cars. We are unashamedly ‘old-school’ in that our technicians are experts and craftsman, able to conduct complex repairs and even fabricate entire new parts.
If you are short on time, we have a collection and delivery service, or you can take advantage or our fleet of modern courtesy cars. If it’s a simple job, we can offer while you wait appointments with refreshments and we will carry out a complimentary wash and vacuum after work is complete.

MOT
An MOT is a government requirement that needs renewing every 12 months. MOT’s are conducted in house and we have a child friendly, comfortable waiting area with fresh tea and coffee available on tap. We have a fleet of modern courtesy cars available and offer collection and delivery within the local area if you’re having your car serviced. Every MOT comes with a free car wash.
Service
Regular servicing is imperative to sustain the reliability and performance of your car. We can cater for virtually any make or model and make use of genuine OE parts and fluids to ensure your manufacturer warranty remains intact. Brakes
Effective braking is fundamental to the safety of your car. We can supply discs, pads, drums, callipers, hydraulic components and more. Do your brakes cause a noise or a vibration, or has your pedal gone soft - we can advise? Electronic handbrakes pose no problem, and we are experienced with all the latest ABS systems. We supply manufacturer approved fluids and parts to ensure any manufacturer’s warranty remains intact.
Tyres
We can supply most brands of tyres, from premium big-name brands through to mid -range and budget. Even OE spec tyres, track tyres and seasonal tyres are available. If you’re unsure about what type of tyre would best suit you needs our experienced tyre technicians can advise. If you’re concerned that your tyres are nearing the end of their life, please pop in and let us check the tread depths and pressures and general condition FOC and we can advise how close your tyres are to the end of their serviceable life. All used tyres are recycled, and all tyre repairs and fitment are performed by experienced tyre technicians.
Body Repairs
We all have accidents but luckily Hofmann’s can help fix your damaged vehicle. Whether you have picked up a minor dent or scratch requiring a “smart repair”, or you need a larger insurance repair requiring body panels and paint - we can help. Complete body restorations and re-sprays are also available for those cherished classics, to the very best standards, at reasonable prices.
Diagnostics
Modern cars are complicated machines and faults can often be tricky to effectively diagnose. To minimise the time spent fault-finding on your car we have invested in the Industry-leading diagnostics system from Autologic who employ a team of manufacturer specific Master-Technicians whose unrivalled experience is at our disposal. Additionally, we utilise a range of dealer-level manufacturer supplied equipment to assist us with specific brands. Software up-dates are available for most brands as well as component programming and upgrades.
