Debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in February 2006 the 599 which is named after it’s engine size (5,999cc), Gran Turismo Berlinetta nature, and the Fiorano Circuit test track used by Ferrari wowed the motoring press. It was Ferrari’s front engine, two-seat flagship that replaced the 575M. The first UK cars were seen in 2007 and it had a successful 5-year run.
Powered by 5,999cc V12 the 599 produces a healthy 612hp between 7,600rpm to 8,400rpm, making it the most powerful series production Ferrari road car at the time. At the time of its introduction, this was one of very few engines whose output exceeded 100hp per litre of displacement without any forced induction.
